Councillor Pete Fry Raises Motion to Support Return of Chinatown Post Office

City Councillor Pete Fry has submitted a motion for Council’s consideration on Wednesday, December 10, directing Mayor and Council to write to relevant decision-makers and advocate for the restoration of the Chinatown Post Office.

Fry’s motion acknowledges the importance of the Chinatown Post Office, located at 418 Main Street until its closure on November 12, and the challenges that residents and community members face in its absence. In addition to directing the writing of a letter to Canada Post leadership and the minister responsible for Canada Post, the motion directs staff to consider the integration of a post office as “part of current and future civic owned asset revitalization project planning,” perhaps hinting at the potential redesign of Chinatown Plaza Mall.
