Upcoming Event: Community Banner Making Workshop – 2pm February 3

On Saturday, February 3, Chinatown Together is hosting a banner making workshop to amplify Chinatown organizing. Community elder Ms. Zhang 張小姐 & Beverly Ho will teach basic sewing and textile skills and guide participants in creating banners of their own design!

Tea and a light lunch will be provided, along with fabric, supplies, and equipment. For more on the inspiration for this event:

Inspired by queer Chicago artist Aram Han Sifuentes and their Protest Banner Lending Library, this free, intergenerational event is for the community to come together to create protest and celebration banners to amplify Chinatown and our collective organizing.

Things to bring:

  • Additional fabric to share or use
  • Your banner design idea (If you’d to create a banner of your own design, please email Beverly at ho.beverly@gmail.com with your design idea and images)
  • Water to stay hydrated

Transit: Chinatown is accessible by transit via skytrain and bus. The closest skytrain station is Stadium-Chinatown.

Parking: There is paid parking at the Sun Wah Centre

Venue accessibility: Sun Wah Centre 4th floor is accessible by elevator
