BKH (Bee Kim Heng 美金香 mei5 gam1 hoeng1 | měi jīn xiāng) and Golden Smell Mee actually have roots in Chinatown, with BKH having been founded in 1986 at Golden Gate Centre at the northwest corner of Main and Georgia (which you might remember as the original location of Ba Le, now across the street at Golden Crown Centre). Originally one shop with both jerky and noodles, the family eventually split the business into two branches – BKH Jerky and Kim Heng Noodles. You might recognize Kim Heng Noodles from the sign still hanging over 617 Gore Avenue – later home to the clothing store Yedina and now Gore Studios.
